JULIUS CAESAR, (assassinated 44 B.C.), issued c.46-5 B.C., silver denarius, Spanish mint, (3.80 grams), obv. Venus diademed head to right, small Cupid behind at shoulder, rev. Gaulish captive and Gallia captive seated beneath trophy, [CAESAR] in exergue, (S.1404, Syd. 1014, Cr.468/1, RSC Julius Caesar 13). Old cabinet toning, off centred on reverse, otherwise extremely fine and very scarce.
