MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.910 grams), Magnesia mint, issued 319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **PA* monogram to left, under throne AY monogram, **[AL]EXAND[ROU]* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1959, BMC 1959a-b, M.785); another similar (4.074 grams), Lampsacus mint, issued 310-301 B.C., rev. with symbol forepart of pegasus before, long torch under throne, (P.1437); another AE 15, Macedonian mint, issued 336-323 B.C., obv. diademed head to right, dotted border, rev. horse prancing to right, above and to right, **ALEXANDROU*, HP monogram below, (S.6744, P.369, BMC 369a-c, M.21). Silver worn and porous, otherwise fine, last off centred obverse good fine/very fine and scarce. (3)
