HAROLD I, (1035-1040), silver penny, London Mint, issued 1038-1040, (1.12 g), obv. diademed armoured bust to left, in front shield and sceptre, HAR OLD REX around, rev. voided long cross, with fleur de lis and two pellets in angles, around +PYN SIGE ON L VND (Wynsige of London), (S.1165, North 803, BMC 80, type V). Toned, good very fine and very rare.

Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from Noble Numismatics Sale 51 (lot 1163) and previously from Seaby, England Coin & Medal Bulletin, November 1982 (No. E708, £650).
