NERO, (A.D. 54-68), gold aureus, issued c.64-65, Rome mint, (7.35 g), obv. laureate head to right of Nero, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. Jupiter seated left on throne, holding thunderbolt and sceptre, IVPPITER CVSTOS around, (S.1930, RIC 52, BMC 67, C.118). An extraordinary example with golden red Boscoreale patination, extremely fine and very rare in this condition.

With research and a letter from Spink indicating the connection to the Boscoreale hoard.
