ITALY, Bruttium, Croton, (c.520 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm (7.42 g), obv. Delphic tripod with three legs terminating in lion's feet, two serpents emerging from bowl, set on exergual line with meander pattern, cable and pellet border, **QPO* to left, rev. Delphic tripod incuse in flan, (cf.S.225, cf.Weber 997, cf.SNG ANS 230, cf.SNG Manchester 306, cf.SNG Cop. 1735, cf.Gale 1, BMC 3). Old cabinet toning, die cud on obverse well centred, good very fine and rare.

The meander pattern in the exergue of this type is extremely rare and apparently unrecorded in the major collections and standard works.
