ANGLO-SAXON, silver sceatta, secondary phase, c.710-760 A.D., series G (type 3a), Northumbria mint, probably York, (0.83 g), obv. diademed and draped bust right, large almond eye, braided hair, cross pommee before within outer pelleted circle, rev. standard with central pellet-in-annulet, saltires in each angle, no pellets between them, pellets in margins, (S.800, N 43, BMC 3a). Toned, edge chip, very fine and scarce.
