AETHELRED II, (978-1016), silver penny, long cross type, Rochester Mint, moneyer Eadwine, (1.48 g), obv. bare headed bust left to edge of flan, hair with fourteen strands, pellet behind neck, four horizontal folds to drapery, no inner circle or sceptre, +AEDELRAED REX ANGLOX (NG ligated) around, rev. voided long cross with pellet in centre and triple crescent ends, divides +ED PINE MO ROFE around, (S.1151, N.774, BMC iva). Toned, minor edge loss, some surface pitting, very fine and rare.
