CANTERBURY SOCIETY OF ARTS, 1904, struck in silver (58mm), by T. & J.Bragg (Birmingham), reverse inscribed 'C.F.Kelly', rim inscribed 'Model from Life 1904'. Extremely fine and extremely rare.

Cecil Fletcher Kelly (1878-1954)

Born in Christchurch, in 1878, Cecil Kelly studied in Christchurch under P. Van der Velden and in Europe. He married fellow artist Elizabeth Abbott in 1908 and they settled in New Brighton. Their home became a meeting place for artists. A teacher and landscape painter in oils, Kelly exhibited with the Canterbury Society of Arts and in the UK with the Royal Academy. He died in 1954, and his work is represented in major New Zealand galleries.
