UNITED FIRE BRIGADES ASSOCIATION OF N Z, Long Service Medal for five years service, in silver (39mm), with pin-back ribbon buckle bar, by A.T. (Anton Teutenberg, Auckland), reverse inscribed 'Presented/By The/Christchurch/City Council/To/Horse Driver J.Moore/Of The/Christchurch/Fire Brigade/For 5 Years Service/Dating From Apt/1888' (D&C.L3; O&D.115). In unofficial contemporary case, nicely toned, hairlines on reverse, otherwise nearly uncirculated and scarce to an Horse Driver.

Fire Brigade.-The annual general meeting of the Christchurch Volunteer Fire Brigade was held in the Chester street Station on Wednesday evening. Mr Superintendent Turton in the chair. A large amount of routine business was gone through. The Chairman, in reviewing the past year's work, mentioned that the city had been free from any serious fires, and consequently the Brigade had received very few cheques from the public, which accounted for the very small balance standing to their credit. He thanked the officers and men for their, assistance to him during the year. The Secretary then read the report and balance sheet showing the smallest credit balance for the last twenty years. Medals for five years' service were presented to the following members :- Branchman T. Stirling, Branchman John Fraser, Assistant Branchman J. Weller, Driver J. Moore, and Driver J. Ward.
