GROUP OF SEVEN TO SAS: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star, - clasp - 8th Army; Italy Star; France and Germany Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Efficiency Medal (GVIR INDIAE.IMP), with Territorial suspension. The first six medals unnamed as issued, 908535 Pte. G.Hutchinson. Para. Regt. on the last medal. The named medal impressed. Swing mounted, all medals toned, very fine.

Together with,^1) A swing mounted matching set of miniatures with two clasps on the Efficiency Medal.^2) Leather medal purse.^3) SAS enamelled badges (3 different sizes).^4) SAS embroidered shoulder patch in gilt and silver wire, another smaller cap badge in gilt and material, another shoulder patch printed in black on white cloth.^5) 1st S.A.S. embroidered shoulder title.^6) Embroidered SAS parachute badges (2).^7) Safe Driving Competition 5 Years Drivers Award with clasps for 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1958, issued by The Royal Society For The Prevention Of Accidents, produced by Fattorini & Sons, B'ham. ^8) Certification that 908535 L/Cpl Hutchinson G served in the 1st Special Air Service Regiment from 5.6.42 to 16.11.45.^9) Certification for Initial Certificate dated 24 May 1960 under The Mining Act Ontario to Gerald Hutchinson born in England on 12 January 1922, with photo.^10) Various documents for National registration ID card, Special Air Service Regimental Association, Army Ski Association, Soldier's Service Pay Book (2). The Pay Book records that Gerald Hutchinson was born at Newcastle, England on 12 January 1922 and was a Shop Assistant (Tailor) when he enlisted on 3 May 1939. He qualified as a parachutist on 9 March 1943 and granted permission to wear SAS badge on 7 August 1943.^11) Various loose b&w photos and a large number of photos in a photo album, mostly SAS related.^12) 21st S.A.S. Regt. (Artists) T.A. Christmas card (unused) and another SAS Christmas card also unused, Good Luck Song Cards issued by Red Star Weekly (7).^13) The Long Range Desert Group book, 1983, soft cover, 40pp, signed by the two authors to Gerald Hutchinson.^14) Mars & Minerva, The Journal of The Special Air Service, December 1990, soft cover, 63pp. On p62 it records the death of Gerald Hutchinson HQ Sqn 21 SAS (Artists) 1949-1961 (Obit May 1989 aetat 67). On 3 May 1939 he joined 72 Fd. Regt. R.A. - April 1942. In April 1942 he joined 'L' Det 1 SAS until disbandment in 1946. He was one of the early, experienced members of 21 SAS on its formation.^15) Typed text 'Mainly About The S.A.S. Part 1 by G.Hutchinson 9pp and another S.O. Book 135, Moments of Boredom being poetry with pasted in sections of typed text by G. Hutchinson.^16) Parachute Regiment cap badge (QC) in brass with slide back.^17) Parachute Regiment red beret, by British Beret Basque Ltd, 1965 above upright arrow (with lot but date of manufacture seems inappropriate).^18) Other odd bits and pieces.
