WORLD WAR I, War Loan leaflet, this and similar official recruiting 'loan' leaflets were dropped by members of the Australian Flying Corps over Melbourne and Adelaide in 1917. The leaflet depicts a bi-plane with the words 'WAR LOAN' on the top wing and the text 'The Boys who trained in Melbourne are making history in the air. Help them by Buying War Bonds.' below in five lines in a frame and 'H.J. Green, Acting Govt Print., Melb.' At base, black print on white paper (100 x 151mm), an extremely rare item of early Australian military aviation, only a few known. Very fine.

See 'The Australian Air Mail Catalogue' by Nelson Eustis pp.6-7 for more details.
