AUSTRALIA, Pith Helmet by Davies Bryan & Co, marked Christys' London For The Tropics, with leather chinstrap, printed in ink on the inside, "Lt S.L.Perry./13th Batt/A.I.F.". The usual wear and toning, otherwise fine.

Entitled to Distinguished Service Order; Military Cross; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-19; Victory Medal 1914-19 with two MIDs.^DSO to Major (Temp. Lieut. Colonel Stanley Llewllyn (sic) Perry. M.C.: During the operations East of Hamel, on August 8th 1918. For gallant conduct and devotion to duty during the advance of his Battalion to the capture of the Blue Line West of Proyart. Though wounded by enemy Machine Gun fire through the arm early in the advance, yet he refused to leave, and successfully commanded and controlled the final capture of the objective, afterwards directing the consolidation and placing the line in a defensive condition. His example was very inspiring to both Officers and men.^MC Recommendation for Captain Stanley Llewelyan (sic) Perry, 45Bn: For conspicuous bravery and coolness shown during the heavy bombardment of our trenches on the 14th August, 1916. The portion of the trenches occupied by Capt. Perry's company were being subjected to a very heavy fire both oblique and frontal, and casualties were heavy. At the commencement of the bombardment Capt. Perry moved up into the front line of trenches and remained there until severely wounded. This is only one of the instances during the operations 5th to 14th August, in which Capt. Perry proved himself a most brave and capable officer.^MID Recommendation for Major Stanley Llewellyn Perry MC, 45Bn: For consistent good work and devotion to duty during the period 26th February to 20th September 1917. In action he has done exceptionally good work especially at Bullecourt April 1917 and Messines June 1917. Out of the line he has done exceptionally good work helping to reorganize and train the Battalion.^MID Recommendation for Major (temp. Lieut-Colonel Stanley Llewelyan (sic) Perry M.C.: For good work during period 22nd September 1917 to 24th February 1918.^Stanley Llewellyn Perry, born 23Aug1890 in Sydney, NSW; while attending Auburn Superior Public School he became a Sgt-Maj in 3Bn, Public Schools Cadet Force; from Feb1913 served as 2Lt in 39Bn; Enl.20Nov1914 as 2nd Lt in 13Bn and Emb. Dec 1914 for Egypt; to Lt 01Feb1915; landed at Gallipoli on 25Apr1915 and moved to Quinn's Post and Pope's Hill; WIA 06-07Aug1915 at Gallipoli at Koja Chemen Tepe; trf to 45Bn as A Coy commander 12Mar1916; to Capt 12Mar1916; to France 02Jun1916; WIA 14Aug1916 near Pozieres; rejoined unit 12Dec1916 and became 2IC; 45Bn fought in several key battles in France in 1917 and on 16Oct1917 apptd CO of 45Bn; appt'd CO of 48Bn 01Jun1918; during allied offensive of 08Aug1918 slightly WIA; RTA 18Apr1919; Appt terminated 11Aug1919. ^With research.
