CONVICT LOVE TOKEN, engraved on a 1797 cartwheel penny shaved smooth on both sides, on one side is stipple engraved, "Maria/Love. When/this you see/Remember/me", and on the other side, "When I/am far away/Charles/Love/1827", with some stipple engraved ferns on both sides. Very fine.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 100 (lot 923), and previously Dix Noonan Webb (DNW) Auction Sale December 15, 2005 (lot 2260), previously provenance stated as bought from Coins & Antiquities in London. ^Charles Love, age and occupation unknown, sentenced to life in the colonies for house breaking. Arrived in Van Diemen's Land on 7 December 1827. With research.
