R.A.E.C. on eighth medal, 424026 G J Murphy on ninth medal, the tenth medal unnamed and 461020 Capt. G.J.Murphy. 16 Ind Para Bde. on last medal. All named medals engraved except the fifth and eighth medals. The first nine medals court mounted and the last two medals with pin-back suspenders, the last medal with case of issue, very fine - uncirculated.
^Together with Parachute Regiment cap, by Compton Webb (Headdress) Limited, with attached Parachute Regiment cap badge (QC) in white metal; Parachute Regiment uniform belt with Parachute Regiment buckle in white metal; Wicklow County Council neck tie made in Dublin, Ireland with small unidentified badge attached with a stick-pin; Regular Army Certificate of Service booklet; a cigar box containing multiple badges in metal and cloth, as well as buttons and officer's pips, and ribands and shoulder titles in metal and cloth; also various documents and letters; with research.^Purchased from various retailers including Bulletbully14MileEndSA 1/31917.^George Joseph Murphy, school boy, Enl.03Dec1935 at Omagh, Northern Ireland in Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and Royal Irish Fusiliers, Army No.6978183; between 03Dec1935 to 25Feb1947 he served with Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in Malaya and India, with Army Air Corps in India, Middle East and North Africa, qualifying as a parachutist 13Aug1942, and with Army Physical Training Corps at home ; He was Disch.25Feb1947 and Re-Enlisted in R.I. Fusiliers 26Feb1947 and served until 18May1959; He then saw commissioned service with the Parachute Regiment 19May1959 to 18May1966; joined Australian Army Reserve CMF as a Captain (Army No.424026) 31Jan1967; Captain with 10 Royal South Australia Regt 01Feb1967; issued with an Army Driving Licence on 21Nov1967 (this included with lot); Adjutant/Quartermaster 43Bn, RSAR 01Apr1968; Disch.12Aug1974 as Captain; Died 31Dec2014 in South Australia (Note: his brother John served in the Royal Navy and was KIA on HMS Repulse 10Dec1941).
