MACEDON, Kingdom of, Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver fifth stater, (1.763 grams), uncertain mint (Amphipolis mint?), issued c.315/4 - 295/4 B.C., obv. head of Apollo wearing taenia to right, rev. nude young male or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, club below, traces above **FILIPPOU*, (S.6690, cf.Le Rider Pl.48, 10-12, SNG ANS 822-827). Rough surface, well centred, with dull grey tone, very fine and a scarce symbol.
