SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), first reign (121-114/3 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.5 grams), Ake Ptolemais mint, obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right, **BASILEWS and **ANTIOCOU and to right **EPIFANOUS, to left MI monogram, to right a dot, (cf.S.7143, LSM [NN&M 84] No.28 variant, BN 1409, cf.ACNAC Houghton 812). Nearly extremely fine from a scarce mint, and a very rare minor variant.
