SYRIA, Kingdom of, Antiochus VIII, (121-96 B.C.), first reign (121-114/3 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.49 grams), Damascus mint, issued year 196 = 117/6 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus VIII to right, fillet border, rev. Zeus Uranius with crescent above standing to left, holding star and sceptre, on right **BASILEWS and **ANTIOCOU and to left **EPIFANOUS, to left A/B and **FL monograms, date CqP in exergue, (cf.S.7143, LSM [NN&M 84] No.99, cf.ACNAC Houghton 850). Bright nearly extremely fine and very scarce.
