AUGUSTUS AS OCTAVIAN, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), plated silver denarius, mint moving with Octavian, issued 40 B.C. by Q. Salvius, (3.1 grams), obv. head of Octavian to right, around C CAESAR III VIR R P C, rev. Q SALVIVS IMP COS DESIG, around a thunderbolt, (S.449, Cr.523/1a, BMC 1326b). Copper core showing through on edge, scratches on neck and cheek, otherwise nearly very fine.
