SICILY, Gela, (c.420-415 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.8 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven right by male charioteer holding goad, Nike flying to left crowning rider, rev. forepart of man headed bull to right with long beard, above **GELAS, (cf.S.795, Jenkins 476, obv. 92, rev. 186 [notes only twelve examples known of these dies]). Has been cleaned and struck from a worn obverse die, otherwise fine/very fine and a scarce die combination.
