ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.400-350 B.C.), silver stater, (7.61 grams), obv. head of female to right, the hair is held bound by fillet and forming a top knot of loose locks, rev. corn ear, [M]ETA to left, stalk to right, quince above stalk, (cf.S.409, Noe [NN&M 47, 1984] 484, SNG ANS 366 [same dies]). Fine and very scarce.
