MICHAEL II AND THEOPHILUS, (821-829), solidus of barbarous style, (3.68 grams), struck at Syracuse mint, obv. Michael facing bust holding cross on circlet, has a short beard and wears a crown, rev. Theophilus facing beardless wearing loros and crown, in right hand cross crosslet, (S.1646, DOC 15c). Very fine and rare.
