Caecilius Metellus Pius Scipio, (c.47-46 B.C.), silver denarius, Africa mint, (3.87 grams), obv. laureate head of Africa wearing lion skin, to right, corn ear before, plow below, Q METELL on right, SCIPIO IMP on left, rev. Hercules standing facing with club, EPPIVS on right, LEG F.C on left, (S.-, Cr.461/1, Syd.1051). Lightly but attractively toned, nearly extremely fine and rare.
