JULIUS CAESAR, (c.46-5 B.C.), plated silver denarius, 'fouree' Spanish mint, (2.620 grams), obv. Venus diademed head to right, small Cupid behind at shoulder, rev. Gaulish captive and Gallia captive seated beneath trophy, CAESAR in exergue, (S.1404 [£125 VF], Syd. 1014, Cr.468/1, C.Julius Caesar or RSC 13 [£130]). Some exposure of copper below otherwise fine and scarce.

Ex Charles E. Weber Collection and previously from Stacks New York, Auction Sale April 7, 1951 (lot 77).
