AUGUSTUS AS OCTAVIAN, (27 B.C. - A.D. 14), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 32-31 B.C. (3.638 grams), obv. diademed head of Pax to right, olive branch before, cornucopiae behind, rev. CAESAR DIVI F across field, Octavian in military dress walking to right, hand raised holding spear, (S.1549 [£250 VF], RIC 253, RSC.72, BMC 611). Scrape on Octavian's legs, otherwise very fine and rare.
The issue refers to the battle of Actium, the greatest and most important of all victories of Augustus and the Peace that follows.
