MISCELLANEOUS: Assortment of photos, cards and cigarette cards, mostly military related, also includes several featuring early Sydney and flood scenes in country New South Wales. Of particular interest is a series of photos relating to Pte W.W. Martin 58 Battalion AIF, KIA 29 September 1918 along with letters of sympathy from King George V and the Secretary of State for War. Many other named photos in the lot. There is also a Royal Air Force Convoy Note dated 1 July 1945 and signed by the vehicle driver LAC Goldberg and the recipient Corporal S Broadbelt. According to information supplied by the latter, following delivery of this consignment, Goldberg stole ammunition from the camp and while en route to Palestine he was captured and subsequently tried and executed. An interesting lot. Very good - very fine. (approximately 100)
