CLAUDIUS, (A.D. 41-54), ancient imitation probably British, AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued A.D. 41-42, (18.49 grams), obv. laureate head of Claudius to right, around TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR [AVG P]M TR P IMP, rev. SPES AVGV[STA] around, Spes draped advancing to left, right hand holding flower, left raising skirt, (cf.S.1853, cf.BMC 124, cf.RIC 99, cf.C.85, cf. CBN 165). Some surface marks, off centred reverse, otherwise good fine.
