C. VIBIUS VARUS, (42 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (4.08 grams), obv. head of Bacchus, wearing wreath of ivy and grapes to right, dotted border, rev. C. VIBIVS in exergue VARVS to right, panther leaping to left towards altar with mask and thyrsus, (S.496, Cr.494/36, Syd.1138, B.Vibia 24). Attractive grey patina with golden highlights, extremely fine with a beautiful portrait, very scarce.
