Group of Seven: Distinguished Flying Medal (GVIR Ind:Imp); 1939-45 Star; Air Crew Europe Star; Pacific Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. AUS.403089. F/Sgt. D.L.Coen on first medal, second - fourth medals unnamed as issued, 403089 D.L.Coen. on last three medals. First medal engraved, last three impressed. Good very fine.

Together with WWI Returned from Active Service badge impressed number 157880 on reverse; delivery envelope marked War Medal Only.

Father: Sydnie Lionel Cohen, age 33, manufacturer born London; NOK father, Dr A.A.Cohen, Darling Point; Enl.20Sep1915; Emb.30Sep1916; 28Jun1917 2nd Lt; 18Dec1917 Lt; WIA 30Sep1918 GSW to head, France; RTA 11May1919; 08Aug1919 appointment terminated; Statutory Declaration dated 04Oct1939 shows that he enlisted for WWI service as Cohen but changed name since by deed poll to Coen (copy included with lot).

Son: DFM: LG 10/9/1943, p4013, posn 5; CAG 16/9/1943, p2081, posn 11. Citation: Flight Sergeant Coen is an outstanding bomb aimer who has taken part in many operational flights. He has shown himself to be efficient and keen in pressing home attacks on many important targets, including Berlin, Essen and Duisberg, and frequently securing excellent photographic evidence. His coolness and skill while subject to enemy fire has been an inspiration to his crew.

Award presented by The Governor of NSW at Government House, Sydney on 14 October 1944.

Together with various documents including Certificate of Service and Discharge as NCO, confirmation of medal entitlement and copies of papers relevant to awards.
