SEXTUS POMPEY, (42-40 B.C.), silver denarius, Sicilian mint, (3.71 g), obv. diademed head of Neptune to right, trident behind, MAG PIVS IMP ITER around, rev. naval trophy, around [PR]AEF CLAS ET O R [AE MARIT EX S.C.], (S.1391, Cr.511/2, Syd.1347, C. Sextus Pompey 1). Slightly off centred on the reverse, otherwise nearly very fine/nearly fine and rare.

Ex Collection of Barry Allen Jones with ticket from M.R. Roberts. Struck to commemorate the naval successes of Sextus Pompey and the disaster that befell the enemy.
