L. FARSULEIUS MENSOR, silver denarius, issued 75 B.C., Rome Mint, 4.00 grams, C.392/1a, S.789a, BMC 3306-3311, Sear Farsuleia 1 (p.47), Obv. Diademed and draped bust of Liberty to r., S.C under chin, MENSOR. before, cap of liberty and number XXXIIII behind, Rev. Roma in biga to r. assisting a togate figure to mount into the chariot, scorpion below horse's feet, L. FARSVL[EI] in exergue. Toned, nearly extremely fine and rare as such, (1533).

Ex C. Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 315 part). This is the Specimen described by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
