MACEDON, kingdom of Philip II, (359-336 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.30 g), Pella III mint, issued c.323/2-316/5 B.C., obv. head of Zeus laureate to right, dotted border, rev. naked youth or small man (Philip II), on horseback to right, holding long palm branch, **FILIP POU* around, below horse a serpent, to right a Boeotian shield. (S.6683, Le Rider 531 [obv.D281, rev.R436 p.68, 8 reported from dies], SNG ANS 450, slightly off centred on [same dies], cf.Num.Circ. 1972 80/4, No.3818 [same dies]), Grey tone, extremely fine and very rare.
