MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.22 g), Macedon "Amphipolis" mint, issued c.315-294 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **L* over torch on left, monogram below throne, to right **ALEXANDROU*, (cf.S.6713, Price 447, BMC 474a-e, M.37). Attractive light toning, well struck, nearly extremely fine.
