ANCIENT BRITISH, Southern Region, Belgae, Uninscribed coins, Chute type, (c.65-58 B.C.), gold stater, (6.03 g), obv. wreath motif with downward-facing leaves, rev. triple-tailed disjointed horse to left, 'shrimp' and large pellets above, oval shape behind, crab below, (S.22, ABC 746, SO 4-5, Van A 1205, BMC 35-76, M 32). Attractive yellow gold, well struck with nice horse and wreath, all elements on the flan, crisp extremely fine and rare in this condition.

Chris Rudd notes that this is one of the finest Chute staters he has seen and must have been struck from fresh dies due to the detailed elements visible on the reverse.
