C. CONSIDIUS PAETUS, (46 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (4.18 g), obv. helmeted bust of Minerva to right, wearing aegis, dotted border, rev. Victory in quadriga to right, holding palm branch and reins in left hand, and wreath in right hand, C. CONSIDI in exergue, (S.457, C.465/5, Syd 994, BMC 4091, RSC Considia 5). Lightly toned, extremely fine and very rare.
Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3651) and also coming from an old Hungarian collection. Formerly of C.Pitchfork Collection and previously from the Duke of Northumberland Collection, sold at Sothebys, London, November 4, 1982 (lot 439 part). This is the specimen described on p.47 by Rear Admiral Henry Smyth 'Descriptive Catalogue, A Cabinet of Roman Family Coins belonging to His Grace the Duke of Northumberland K.G.', published 1856.
