VALERIAN I, (253-260 A.D.), Forgery by Becker of silver denarius, (3.37 g), obv. Laureate bust of Valerian draped and cuirassed to right, IMP C P LIC VALERIANVS AVG around, rev. ORIENS AVG around, Sol, standing facing with head to left, holding globe and raising right hand, (Becker No.219, illustrated Hill plate XII, struck early 19th century). Very rare Becker forgery, toned, good very fine.
Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3904) and also coming from an old Hungarian collection.
The reverse die used also by Becker on Postumus (No.229 Becker).
