Syria, Kingdom of, Seleukos I Nikator, (312-281 B.C.) - Tigranes II (83-69 B.C); various AE includes Antiochos III, (222-187 B.C.) AE 24mm, (11.82 g), Antioch mint. Struck circa 222-211/10 B.C., obv. laureate head of Antiochos III, as Apollo, to right, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, testing arrow and resting hand on grounded bow; [monograms] to outer left, (S.4946, SC 1048; HGC 9, 466); another AE 26 (12.69 g), £ (24.5mm, 13.20 g, 1h). Sardes or Antioch mint, obv. laureate head of Apollo to right, rev. tripod; uncertain control marks, (S.-, cf. SC 971, 1060, and Ad221; HGC 9, 468); another serrated AE 14, (2.57 g), (S.-, HGC 9, 561); Seleukos IV, (!87-175 B.C.), Antioch on the Orontes mint, obv. laureate head of Apollo right; AB monogram to left, rev. Apollo Delphios, testing arrow, standing left, leaning on tripod to right; H/A to inner left, (S.6968, SC 1315.6m, HGC 9, 584) (illustrated); another of Seleukos III, AE 13, (4.14 g), (S.6929). Large issues porous and poorly struck, otherwise very good - nearly very fine, some rare. (5)
