ITALY, Lucania, Metapontion, (c400-340 B.C.), silver nomos or stater, (7.89 g), obv. head of Demeter to left, rev. barley ear, leaf to right, to left, ethnic META in a cartouche, on right THP above leaf, (cf.S.405, Noe 527 (same dies), SNG ANS 394, SNG Cop.1206, HN Italy 1547). Toned, off centred, nearly extremely fine and rare.
