IONIA, Teos, (520-510 B.C.), silver stater, (11.97 g), obv. Griffin seated to right with raised foreleg, NV between legs, rev. incuse square of rough form, (cf.S.3512, Balcer [SNR 1968, Vol.47], Group II No.8 obv. die A8, rev. die P11, Boston Brett 1936). Very fine and very rare.

Ex Alan Jordan Collection and purchased from Noble Numismatics Sale 68 (lot 1906) and Noble Numismatics Sale 60 (lot 1883), previously from the Teos hoard c.1980 and Spink Noble Sale 38 (lot 1596).
