THE COMMERCIAL BANK OF AUSTRALIA, one pound, Sydney, 8th Septr. 1909, No C 090712 (MVR 1), signature A.W.Burrows for Manager and Geo Jennings, Chinese script vertically on left and right, floral pattern border, imprint 'Sands and McDougall, Stationers, Melbourne'. Two minor unobtrusive holes, rust spots on back, otherwise nearly very fine and extremely rare, only one other issued note known.

Chinese text translates 'one pound New Gold Mountain'. Text to attract business with Chinese minority in the population. Gold Mountain refers to Melbourne after the gold rush of the 1850s.
