NEW SOUTH WALES, 1852 1d carmine, on medium bluish medium wove paper, as a RH corner strip of 4 with fine margins, brilliant colour, includes the variety 'WALE' for 'WALES' error, (SG 45, cf.44c); together with an accompanying letter from the Inspector of Stamps to the Governor and reply where he approves this issue of stamps. Mint, unused without gum, probable expert treatment to remove foxing of paper.

Ex Stanley Gibbons, London, March 19, 1976, with their description, the lot also includes a Royal Philatelic Society, London Expert Committee certificate, No.47,899 stating that it is genuine, dated 1 April 1959.
