EARLY ANGLO SAXON, Secondary Series, silver sceatta, (c710-c760), Series J 'York', type 85, (1.08 g), obv. large diademed head to right, dotted border, rev. outline bird on cross to right circle either side with central dot, (cf.S.802, series J, cf.Metcalf 293). Toned, extremely fine and rare.
