EDWARD THE CONFESSOR, (1042-1066), silver penny, PACX type, issued 1042-1044, (1.13 g), obv. EDPI I D REC AN, diademed bust of king to left with sceptre, rev. GO PINE ONN DE (Godwine of Thetford) with long cross voided, and P A C X in angles, (S.1171, N.813, BMC iv). Toned, extremely fine and rare.

Ex Mark E. Freehill Collection, from Spink & Son, London with ticket acquired in August 2001 and listed in the Spink Numismatic Circular HS0019, December 2000; previously from the C.J.Eaglen Collection (lot 1540) and noted as coming from the A.H. Baldwin & Sons, London with ticket, dated 18 July, 1991.
