CILICIA, Celenderis, silver stater, c.400 B.C., (10.18 g), obv. naked rider with whip in right hand seated sideways on horse prancing to right from which he is about to dismount, dotted border, rev. goat kneeling to left, looking back, above dotted exergue line, (cf.S.5533, BMC 25 = Sotheby's Montague II (1897), 294 (?3.16.0), SNG Lockett 3035, cf.SNG France 2, 75). Obverse die slightly off centre, otherwise extremely fine with attractive medium grey patina, very rare.
