ANTONINUS PIUS, (A.D. 138-161), AE as, (9.55 g), Rome mint, issued A.D. 148, obv. laureate head of Antoninus Pius to left, around ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P XI, rev. PRIMI DECENNALES COS IIII S C, legend in five lines within oak wreath, (cf.S.4310, cf.RIC 853a, cf.C.676). Dark green and brown patina, nearly very fine and very rare with left facing head.

Ex Dr V.J.A. Flynn Collection. Coin Archives has no examples of this type with left-facing head, thus is it a very rare variety.
