QUEEN'S SOUTH AFRICA MEDAL 1899, (type 3 reverse). 1346 Pte W.E.Buckeridge. Cape Town Highrs: Impressed. With short length of ribbon, suspender broken, otherwise good fine.

Enl.26May1900 in South African Mounted Infantry; served with Cape Town Highlanders 17Dec1900-19Mar1901. Supposedly born 1880 in Australia at Hawthorn, Victoria. There was a Wilfred E.Buckeridge who had the licence to the Railway Hotel at Burwood Road, Hawthorn transferred to his name on 19Oct1908 and he then transferred it to another person on 21Jun1909. There was also a Wilfred (Willy) Edward Buckeridge who died 21Mar1911 on the passenger ship, R.M.S.Orvieto. Further research needed.
