THRACE, Deultum, Tranquillina, wife of Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), AE 23, (5.83 g), obv. Tranquillina draped bust to right, around SAB, TRANQVILLINA AVG, rev. Demeter to left, wearing chiton, holding sceptre and corn ears, around COL FL PA C DEVLT, (cf.S.3810, BMC -, Jurukova "Die Munzpragung von Deultum", [Berlin 1973] No.388 [p.122, Pl.23, 388]). Dark patina, very fine and very rare.

Ex Cappenolle Collection and from Noble Numismatics Auction Sale 90 (lot 3260) and Sale 95 (lot 5237).
Jurukova knew of only three examples two being in private collections.
