BAKTRIA, Kingdom of, Menander, (c.160-145 B.C.), silver drachm, (2.37 g), obv. helmeted bust of Menander to right, around **BASILEWS SWTHROS MENANDROU*, rev. Athena Promachos standing left with shield and thunderbolt, monogram in right field, Karoshthi legend around, (S.7601, Bop. Series 16I [nos 141-149], M.218c, M.1780 [ACW], HGC 12, 193); together with another diademed bust of Menander to left, thrusting a javelin, rev. as above with monogram to right, (S.7604, Bop. Series 7A [nos.26-36], M.1790, M.224e, HGC 12, 188). First uneven tone, second bright, very fine. (2)
