HMAS SYDNEY, Bartolomeo Colleoni Medal, 1940, in oxidised silver (58mm) (C.1940/2), by Amor, obverse, HMAS Sydney advancing at full speed with the smoking and disabled Italian cruiser, Bartolomeo Colleoni, in background, reverse, a representation of the plaque presented by the City of Sydney to HMAS Sydney, edge inscribed, 'E.P.Beattie. Stoker, O.N.20499'. In case of issue, toned nearly uncirculated.
Eric Peter Beattie, born 16Jan1905 at Fremantle, WAust; Enl.15Oct24 for term of 12 years; stoker II 15Oct1924; to Stoker 15Sep1935; to A/Ldg Stoker 01Aug1941; to Stoker 17Sep1941; various postings then to HMAS Sydney 18Jun1939 to 20Nov1941 when ship lost with all hands on board.
