THRACE, Aenos (Ainos), silver tetradrachm, (c.374/3-372/1 B.C.), (15.31 g), obv. head of Hermes facing, three quarters to left, wearing petasos, rev. AINION, goat standing right, at her feet, laurel-wreath, (S.1568, May, group LVI, p.245, #408b [This Coin = Hamburger 7, June 17, 1908], dies A247 [obv.], P289 [rev.], SNG Cop 410-411 var., HGC 4, 1278 [R2]). Toned, very fine and very rare.

Ex Baldwin's Auctions No.47, September 25, 2006 (lot 25), previously from the Joseph Hamburger, Frankfurt Auction, 17 June 1908 (lot 402), illustrated on Plate II and noted in the catalogue "Von Grosster Seltenheit", it came from the Berlin Duplicates (1906), Plate I in the Adoph Hess, Frankfurt, Auction March 1906 (lot 69) noted as being No.30 (p.123) in Beschreibung der antiken Munzen Vol.I (Berlin 1888) coming from the Collection of Fox (General Fox ?).
