THESSALY, Larissa, (c.479-475 B.C.), silver obol, 9mm, (1.04 g), obv. head of the nymph Larissa right, within dotted circle, **LAR* below a sandal of Jason to left; above, labrys or double axe to left, all within incuse square, (cf.S.2104 [£400], BCD Thessaly I -; cf.BCD Thessaly II 137; cf.HGC 4, 403 [R2], only example of type published in CNG eSale 387 [lot 67]). Good very fine, slightly porous, extremely rare variety.
